High school seniors in the School District of Philadelphia must get an additional dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine.
The changes are part of new admission guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health & the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The recommended vaccination for all students ages 11 or 12, with a booster shot at age 16. Neisseria meningitidis is the bacteria that causes the contagious & can be deadly Meningococcal Meningitis.
