A Cottingham High School student has been admitted to hospital and that people who have been in close contact have been treated with antibiotics to prevent it from spreading.

Meningitis can be spread by kissing, sneezing, coughing, and sharing utensils. Public Health England issues information, “Not all these symptoms need to be present in all cases, please remember that people with meningitis can become seriously ill very quickly and should seek urgent medical attention.”
