Montara Elementary School teacher from South Gate, CA dies from meningitis.

This is an atypical case because the teacher was 39 years old and is older than most people who contract meningitis.  This case reinforces the need for everyone to make certain that they are vaccinated.  Meningitis is spread by coming into contact with the salvia of someone who is either ill with the disease or is a healthy carrier.  People who are in contact with large numbers of other individuals need to make certain that they take the necessary medical and personal actions, such as vaccination, so that they are protected.
