Two teens were confirmed to have the potentially life-threatening disease, meningococcal infection.
The Northern Sydney Local Health District is urging people to be alert & recognize the signs & symptoms of the disease because it can often mimic other common illnesses. Meningococcal meningitis can be spread by secretions from the nose and throat of a person who is carrying the bacteria. Close and prolonged contact is needed to pass it on.
