This year a Santa Barbara City College student has been hospitalized with Type B meningococcal meningitis.
Last year 2 students died at UCSB from bacterial meningitis. Also another student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo was diagnosed in January of this year. Meningitis is spread from one person to another by the exchange of saliva from kissing or sharing food, beverages or cigarettes. Since meningitis is so deadly it is important to follow good health habits and to make certain you are vaccinated.
