Bacterial meningitis can kill within 24 hours. Before you even realize you’re infected, it’s already done serious damage. The fatality rate can be up to 12 percent, and 20 percent of those who survive are left with permanent injuries such as brain damage, hearing or eyesight loss, or amputation of limbs.
Babies face the most danger. Teens and young adults were also at high risk because students live in group settings at close proximity & sometimes share a lot of things that have been in other people’s mouth. There are safe vaccines though that they can take advantage of.
