Toby was an active seven-year-old boy when he suddenly contracted bacterial meningitis a year ago.
He became paralyzed, was unable to eat and lost his speech. After a year of intensive physiotherapy at Bristol children’s hospital, he is walking again and has been able to go to a new school in Swindon where he receives one-to-one support. His mother, Becky, stated that “Toby still has weakness on his left-hand side, deaf in his right ear and still can’t speak.” He attends regular therapy appointments and has surprised everyone with his progress and how far he has come.
