The Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, in Saudi Arabia holds one of the world’s largest mass gatherings.

The Saudi Ministry of Health has a proven history of managing the health risks from these annual international gatherings. The Hajj and Umrah  include thousands of visitors from all over the world, who may be unknowingly carrying an infectious disease. The Ministry of Health publishes vaccine requirements and recommendations and may decide to administer prophylactic antibiotics to some travelers at the points of entry if deemed necessary.
