At last, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is finally requiring meningitis vaccinations for all students entering 8th and 12th grades prior to admission in the 2016-17 school year.
As Clinic Nurse Supervisor, Connie Werner from the City of St. Joseph Health Department states, “vaccines are so important because diseases that used to kill us can now be prevented with the right vaccines”. This action by the CDC is a milestone in the effort to protect young people in the USA. The requirement is especially important for young people since preteens and teens are considered to be at increased risk of contracting meningitis.
