Western Australia is offering free meningococcal vaccines to young children.
This is after six deaths from the disease were reported last year, a total of 46 cases with the highest rate among children aged five and under.
Desiree Scofield whose son, Robbie, had all four limbs amputated after contracting meningococcal B at five-and-a-half months old. She said, “No child should be dying from a vaccine-preventable disease in Australia in this day and age.”
