Olly Janes was given only a 20 percent chance of survival after contracting meningococcal septicemia when he was 17 years old.
He also survived a second near-death experience when he was stabbed during an unprovoked attack in France. A tennis champion before meningitis, his family and friends encouraged him to get back on the court. That was only five months later with scarring and skin grafts.
Despite all this, Olly successfully trained as an airline pilot, married his fiancee & recently celebrated his 30th birthday. Shirley Cotton, Olly’s mother said: “ He has a positive attitude & knows nothing will come to you — you have to work for it and grab it with both hands.”
