The Iowa legislature approved a mandate requiring a one-time dose of meningococcal (A, C, W, Y) vaccine this fall for students enrolling in 7th and 12th grades.
Infants less than one year old and adolescents 16 through 23 years of age have higher rates of meningococcal disease than other age groups.
Our law makers are committed to protecting the youth and young adults by passing the bill requiring meningitis vaccination. Parents are encouraged to call their medical providers to vaccinate their children.
