The advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has voted to recommend that persons with HIV age 2 months or older should be vaccinated with (MenACWY).
The ACIP did not recommend meningoccal group B vaccination for persons with HIV pending further studies, but will address this at the October 2016 meeting. It is estimated that HIV infected people have a 5 to 24 times greater chance of meningitis infection than non-HIV infected people and need the added protection the meningitis vaccination will provide them.
