Western Australia Chemists’ proposal to give Meningococcal ACWY vaccine was backed by Meningitis Centre Australia Chairman Bruce Langoulant. Launching a social media campaign, to encourage 18 to 19-year-olds to get the vaccine & to help increase vaccination rate.
Kristen Chiera, as a 19-year-old university student in 1998, thought she was bulletproof, partying most nights until she was affected with meningococcal disease and nearly lost her life.
Now 35 years old with a 3 year old son, Kristen did not hesitate to have her son get the ACWY vaccine this year, as well as have him take part in WA’s B-strain vaccine trial for toddlers.
