Invercargill man Michael Moncur, then18-year-old in 2018, contracted meningococcal B.
He was one of three students to fall ill with meningitis and doctors gave him a 10% chance of survival. It was confusing and shocking to find out what had happened on waking up after three days in a coma. He is now focused on encouraging people to get vaccinated, “If you are feeling unwell, tell your friends, let people know. It could save your life.”
