There are about 1,000 to 2,000 thousand cases of meningococcal disease are reported per year according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The pre-teens, adolescents and college freshmen are high risk of contracting the disease. Because of their lifestyle, living in closed quarters, the bacteria associated with the disease can spread in small populations. Vaccinations are important to protect yourself & are available @ campus health centers or contact your primary doctors.
