Meningitis is one of the trickiest diseases in the world.
It seems to pop-up in areas of the world with inexplicable reason. Currently Western Australia is experiencing an outbreak. This year and last has seen seventeen cases. With only about 15% of the total Australian population living in Western Australia it would seem that cases of meningitis should be more prevalent in the eastern states of Australia that hold the vast majority of the country’s population. This anomaly only shows us more conclusively that vaccination is the key to protecting every countries’ people from this dreadful disease. Sure vaccination cost money, but the disease is so devastating and the care cost to provide for survivors makes government funded vaccination both a moral and financial imperative.
