Alfie, 4 year old boy died of meningitis after getting sick only after the first day of school.
He told his mummy he enjoyed school so much he couldn’t wait to go back again. The next morning Alfie woke up covered in a purple rash. He was rushed to his local hospital where he went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated twice. After 12 days in the ICU, Alfie died of meningococcal septicaemia, a life threatening infection of the blood stream.
His parents said, “Alfie never got to have his second day at school, but we hope that his story will help raise awareness of the heartbreaking impact that meningitis and septicaemia can have.”
