A student who attends John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore and Nassau BOCES in Westbury had been diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis.
Nassau County Department of Health spokeswoman Mary Ellen Laurain said “that teenagers are especially susceptible to the disease because of their habits of sharing with others things that involve the exchange of saliva”. Recognize the symptoms because if meningococcal meningitis is caught early & treated with antibiotics, the person may survive without problems.
