Nick Springer will compete for the fourth time in the U.S. wheelchair rugby Paralympics in Rio.
Nick developed a vaccine preventable strain of meningococcal meningitis at age 14. Nick lost all four limbs to meningitis. An avid sports fan and athlete Nick thought his sports days were over, but fate stepped in and Nick overcame his handicaps. He has now competed in the last four Paralympics and is waiting to hear if he has been selected to represent the U.S. in the upcoming Rio Olympics. Nick’s courage and drive is an inspiration to all of us. He is also a spokesman for meningitis awareness and prevention.
