Eira, 5-month-old baby from West Belfast, suddenly became unwell and died from meningitis hours after she was taken to the hospital.

A Public Health Agency spokesperson stated, “It’s important that everyone is aware that the symptoms which are often non-specific in the early stages and it could be mistaken for other illnesses. The disease can develop very quickly and it is imperative to seek urgent medical attention if you think meningitis is a possibility.”
