Seasonal Risk

Cases of meningococcal B disease (MenB) among teenagers and young adults in England increased sharply in the autumn. The majority of cases were seen among university and college students where COVID -19 lockdown restrictions were lifted last summer.

The increase was among the 15-24 age groups. These  young people can protect themselves against some types of meningococcal bacteria by ensuring that receive the meningitis vaccines.
